The artist is continuously looking for new ways to develop and extend our understanding of what we see and how we interact with our environment. The interface between art and science offers exciting opportunities to further this quest. Recently Clare has been working with softwares such as Chimera, DNA Plotter and Artemis to make visible the invisible by extracting her own DNA.
Data Object #1 has been 3D printed to create a visual representation taken from the artists own DNA which questions new insights into information and how data is perceived from digital to real environments. This line of practice has allowed further questioning of how art might be used to challenge scientific discourses and subsequently how this information might translate to people out-with the scientific community.
The work seeks to consider, question and develop links between science, technology and the arts raising interesting questions regarding the conceptual representation of the individual.
